Carl Jung said you calcify at 35
Is this your brand on Milled? Claim it.
Hey ,
Jung wrote that if a man does not face his shadow by age 35, he will not improve. He will calcify. His defense will become his personality.
A 2010 study by INSEAD professor Manfred Kets de Vries, who spent 30 years studying the psychology of the ultra-wealthy, found that the single biggest predictor of a leader's plateau was not market conditions or competition. It was unexamined personal blind spots. The ones who kept growing were the ones who kept looking inward.
Here are three things you can do this week to face your shadow before it costs you:
-
Open a blank doc and write down the three decisions in the last year you regret most. Not what went wrong externally. What did you know at the time that you ignored? That is your shadow talking.
-
Ask one person who reports to you and one person who has known you for ten years the same question: "What is the one thing I do that holds me back that I probably do not see?" Do not defend. Just listen.
-
Block 30 minutes this week with no phone, no meeting, no agenda. Sit with the question Jung asked: "What part of myself am I refusing to look at?" Write whatever comes up. Do not edit it.

JUNG CALLED IT INDIVIDUATION. ROCKEFELLER CALLED IT ACCOUNTING.
Rockefeller kept a personal ledger every day of his life, not just of money, but of his character. He tracked where he was weak, where he rationalized, where he lied to himself. He called it the most important accounting he ever did.
Charlie Munger built what he called a mental latticework, a map of his own biases and blind spots, so he could route around them before they cost him. He said the first rule of avoiding stupidity is knowing exactly how you are capable of being stupid.
The ones who never do this plateau. Every time. Without exception.
The shadow is not your weakness. It is your unlocked capital.
Stay strong.
Tai Lopez

P.P.S. Step 4 of the 67 Steps is the Law of 33%. One third of your time with people below you. One third with peers. One third with people ten years ahead of you. Most people never spend time in that top third. That is the whole gap.
P.P.P.S. The Hollywood event is this Friday June 5th and Saturday June 6th. If you want a seat, Click here to secure your spot.
P.P.P.P.S. Book of the Day: "Modern Man in Search of a Soul" by Carl Jung. The book that explains why brilliant people stop growing, and what to do about it.
