Toothpaste tubes are hard to recycle because of factors like contamination and their multi-material composition. 

This makes it harder for recycling companies to make a profit from recycling them, which is why they aren’t typically accepted for recycling by curbside services.

That’s why ARM & HAMMER™ teamed up with TerraCycle to create the ARM & HAMMER™ Toothpaste Free Recycling Program to help you recycle their toothpaste tubes. They fund the recycling process, so all you have to do is brush, ship, and recycle!

Recycling toothpaste tubes is better for the planet than sending them to landfills—and we’ve got the science to back it up.

Through a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of our oral care recycling process, TerraCycle’s solutions were found to be 72% better for the planet than landfills and 68% better than waste-to-energy. The LCA evaluated environmental impacts across eight categories, including global warming potential (carbon emissions) and water use.
