Linda Barker: exclusive to terrys

Exclusively to Terrys we are thrilled to present the Linda Barker Home. As of today, you can now browse the Field and Flower collection with designs Dottie's Love, Octavia's Tangle and Ursula’s vine from this prestigious British designer. The gentle undulating appeal of these florals, roses, blackthorns, crab apples and beautiful tumbling shapes is a fitting way to embrace spring and summer as the warmer weather approaches.

Dotties' Love

I often walk in the fields near my home and the hedgerows that border the footpaths are a constant inspiration. I think of them as simply hawthorn hedges but rarely are they planted with a single species, Blackthorn blossom flourishes in the spring, dog roses in the summer, crab apples in the autumn. Dotties' Love reminds me of these hedges across all seasons, the ‘Dottie’ spots could allude to berries maybe, or are they crab apples or rosehips? No matter which, the twisting trail creates a lovely pattern across this fabric.

Octavias' Tangle

It was a small plant illustration that I'd found in a second hand book of British Flowers that started the design process for this pattern. At times we weren’t quite certain if the sketches were of catkins or chillies but the tumbling shapes started to create really pleasing patterns across the fabric. Then, once we started to introduce colour onto the drawn illustrations, it was clear to us that just three, standout colourways made it into the final collection.

Ursulas' Vine

A simple, rounded leaf pattern was all that we needed to create a design that could be used either in isolation, or as a companion fabric to both Dotties' Love or Octavias' Tangle. Personally I adore the decorative 'pattern on pattern' look that can be achieve by pairing Ursulas' Vine with either of the two other the fabrics but, used in isolation it has a gentle undulating pattern that I find very appealing.
