We're excited to host The Bold Italic readers and friends, and SF Symphony aficionados. It's shaping up to be a good event that's just a couple of days away. We're going to start the night at SF Symphony where we've offered readers 25 percent off. Seated in either the orchestra or up high.
At The Academy in Castro, my friend Katie Conrad / DJ P3tunia will spin while we chat and be cute in the speakeasy. I put $500 toward free cocktails, or bubbly, or something. My longtime colleague Beth Winegarner wrote about SF's century-old funeral home a couple years ago for The Bold Italic. No idea why this story is trending a bit, but it is. Probably because we San Franciscans mostly get buried in Colma.
Parking on the street in San Francisco is the worst. Not only because it feels like there’s never street parking when you need it, but also because when you find that precious spot, there are a thousand different rules you have to follow — curbing your wheels, marathon street closures, street cleaning, residential time limits, Giants games street closures, meters, permits, double parking, loading zones. Oh my.
What started as a quirky offering at one Excelsior café has barreled into a circus of infused, fair-trade lubricants and patrons who are willing to wait for hand-crafted handies.
I honestly missed this phenomenon. I guess in 2015 it was like a phallic breakfast burrito. The story isn't even all that clear to me, lol. But it's trending!
