This exquisite chess set is named after the stallion rode by the Duke of Wellington during the battle of Waterloo. The Copenhagen is without a doubt one of the most complex and elegant Staunton designs in our collection. The knight's mane is flowing straight back as if running into battle. The knight is beautifully sculpted with realistic features and fine detail including the ears, eyes, nose, mouth. The Copenhagen Staunton is a very large set with a 4.5 inch tall king with a base diameter of 1.9 inches. The pieces are made from the highest quality ebony and boxwood and heavily weighted for good balance and stability on the chess board. The king has two different finials with a press-fit so that you can change from one to other as you please. The Copenhagen is available in both ebony/boxwood and padauk/boxwood combinations.
