Why are men freaking out about shorts? Why is that Knicks benchwarmer so stylish all of a sudden? How is the Fashion Week crowd handling a Paris heat wave? I’m Samuel Hine, and every Thursday I will answer those questions and more in New York Look, a newsletter devoted to men’s style and fashion.

New York has always reported on how we dress. The name of this newsletter is a reference to Look, a special issue published three times between 2007 and 2008 about the rites and rituals of the collections season: the designers, models, critics, and, of course, the clothes that were flying off the catwalks and into Barneys.

I have covered the fashion industry for a decade, but I’m the first writer in the magazine’s history dedicated to the men’s style beat. I will be reporting from New York and beyond — the international Fashion Week circuit, the art fairs and film festivals where stylish guys gather, the bars to be seen at, and the line around the block of that neighborhood shop. The newsletter launches ahead of a new stand-alone print issue on men’s style that’ll be on newsstands September 28.
