The Cut’s style team might have nine writers and editors with vastly different tastes, but if you come to our office often, you’ll notice there are a few core items we all gravitate toward. In the fall, most of us rely on layerable pieces, sweaters and jackets, and cold-weather accessories (like black boots) to transition our wardrobes into the new season. This week, we gave you a peek inside our fall wardrobes with a fresh batch of Cut Fashion Closets. Highlights include low-rise (but not too low-rise) jeans beloved by senior style-partnerships editor Bianca Nieves, a second-skin hoodie recommended by fashion-news writer Emma Childs, shopping writer Chinea Rodriguez’s everyday shoulder bag, beauty writer Carol Lee’s most versatile black dress, and the under-$60 long-sleeve T-shirt I’ve been living in lately. Browse more of our favorite fall staples here and below. —Hanna Flanagan, senior shopping editor

Once upon a time, long, long ago, we used to have to cross the ocean to shop at Olive Young, South Korea’s most popular beauty retailer. (Or, at the very least, pay for international shipping.) Luckily, that is no longer the case: Not only has Olive Young opened two flourishing stores in Los Angeles, but it has also teamed up with Sephora to deliver a selection of K-beauty products to over 500 stores across the country. I shopped the collection myself and have been testing my purchases for the last few weeks to help you navigate the assortment of nearly 150 K-beauty products. My picks include a foaming cleanser that has a bouncy, stretchable, mochilike texture, cooling toner pads that help bring down redness, and a deeply hydrating cream that sinks right into the skin. —Carol Lee, beauty writer

Valentino Beauty recently revealed its latest perfume collection, Vendetta, which pays homage to the original Vendetta fragrance that Valentino Garavani launched in 1991. The launch consists of two fragrances that have been getting some buzz, backed by a star-studded campaign and a glittering launch party in Los Angeles earlier this month. So I tested both scents to see what all the hype is about. Vendetta Donna is described as gourmand, but I found that tuberose and sandalwood make it more floral. The addition of a red orange-nectar accord adds a juicy twist that keeps it from feeling too heavy or stale. The second scent, Vendetta Uomo, has a spicy, boozy energy — thanks to notes of cinnamon liquor and ginger shot — that reminds me of the welcoming warmth and scent of a swanky cocktail bar in the dead of winter. The new Vendetta fragrances are pricey, but if you’ve been looking for a powerful, heady scent that can take you from day to night, you can’t go wrong with either one. —C.L.
