Here's what happened on LingQ in July: five product updates, a Cup of Languages champion, a user story worth reading, and a few other things worth checking out.

Product Updates

Five things landed this month, and one of them has been on the most-requested list for a while.

Custom streak targets are finally here on Web. Tired of the default? Set your own number in General Settings and make the streak actually match your goals. Android and iOS are coming soon.

Safari extension (PC) just caught up to the rest of the pack; you can now import from Prime Video, TikTok, Instagram, and Apple TV, the same lineup Chrome, Firefox, and Edge users have had.

Skritter integration is live on Android for Chinese and Japanese learners. Export the words you're reading in LingQ straight to Skritter and turn recognition into writing practice. iOS is right behind it.

Custom Japanese word splitting puts you in control of how LingQ breaks Japanese text into words. Set your own prompt under Reader Settings → General on Web. Learners are already trading favorite prompts worth trying.

Lynx now leaves you a comment when you finish a lesson. It's an early iteration and it's going to keep getting sharper, so reply and tell us what you think, good, bad, or somewhere in between.

LingQ Cup of Languages: Final Results

The first LingQ Cup of Languages is over, and Team Polish takes the win, finishing with the highest number of coins per learner across all 52 competing languages. Italian and Portuguese rounded out the podium in second and third.

Across every team, learners earned more than 100 million coins during the Cup, through reading, listening, creating LingQs, and learning new words. Wherever your team landed, that's a real milestone.

Shane didn't pursue real fluency until his 30s.
