When thinking of Robert Burns the first Whiskies that come to mind would be the dedicated bottlings that Arran distillery produce in his honour!

FROM THE FARM WHERE ROBERT BURNS LIVED

The farm where Robert Burns worked, lived and wrote his poems is now a distillery; LochLea. This small distillery sources all its barley from the farm, the whisky is distilled and matured on location. To celebrate him why not have a dram from the land which Robert Burns toiled.

THE BEST DRAMS TO GO WITH YOUR HAGGIS

Two of the most famous poems of Robert Burns is dedicated to haggis (poem Address To A Haggis) and whisky (poem Gid Scotch Drink). Any self respecting Scot will be combining these in a toast to the man himself, so we have come up with a few suggestions for you to do the same.

It’s a match made in heaven, with the peat smoke and maritime notes adding an extra layer to the meal and the oats helping to bring out a deep maltiness from the spirit before the honey and vanilla from the dram comes through to ensure that the pepper isn’t overpowering

Alternatively if you find the pepper and spice from the haggis a bit strong you can balance it out with a fruity sherry dram that intertwines well with the richness of the meat. The Glendronach 12 year old pair beautifully the notes of raisins and pears enhancing the rich haggis, the cereal notes complementing the oats.
