Unless you’re living under a rock, there’s a good chance Sydney Sweeney has come up in your conversations this summer—online or in person. The 27-year-old, our Fall Women’s Fashion issue cover star, is one of the most prolific actresses of her generation. After snagging Emmys for her breakout roles in “Euphoria” and the first season of “The White Lotus,” she made the jump to movie star through her successful rom-com “Anyone But You,” which made $220 million at the box office on a $25 million budget. She’s also made a name for herself as a producer through her company Fifty-Fifty Films. More films are coming: this fall, she stars in “Christy,” a biopic of pro boxer Christy Martin, and “The Housemaid,” Paul Feig’s big-screen adaptation of the
bestselling thriller novel.
And then, there are the ads—especially that American Eagle jeans campaign. In her cover story, which you can read below or in print next weekend, Allie Jones writes, “Is she a covert Hollywood conservative hypnotizing the woke into tossing aside diversity initiatives, or is she an undercover feminist using her God-given assets to subvert the system? The real answer, I think, is more straightforward. Sweeney gets a lot of opportunities, and she takes them.”
