ope you all had a relaxing and joyful Thanksgiving!
A defining portrait of NFL superstar Travis Kelce in a moment of great physical pain and unparalleled triumph, a moment in which he has never been more famous or whispered-about or scrutinized, would be an enticement by itself. But to have Kelce captured by writer J.R. Moehringer—a Pulitzer winner and biographer of the highest order—is the kind of magazine-making bliss that evokes pure pleasure to create and consume. It is a delightful joyride through this moment in American culture, yet so classic in its telling as to be timeless.
It is, to be cute, a touchdown—the first, I hope, of many more to come from WSJ. Magazine. Check out the full story—with original photography by Gregory Harris and styling by Edward Bowleg III—at the link below. I’m thankful to you all for reading.
For further Thanksgiving weekend reading: Find out the most unexpected part of Venus Williams’s workout routine in this week’s edition of My Monday Morning; read about how Netflix is putting out a reality show based on its South Korean dystopian drama “Squid Game” without—obviously—murdering the contestants; take a look inside Pharrell Williams’s auction house that is enticing buyers with the personal collections of Williams and his celebrity friends; and don’t miss last weekend’s dramatic story of bankruptcy and a leadership crisis surrounding the Miss Universe pageant.
