Nourish
Your Adrenal Glands
A few years ago I had to have one of my adrenal glands removed for health reasons — no small thing considering that your adrenals govern hormonal production that impacts metabolism, immunity, stress responses and other important functions. So I was excited to discover this Adrenal Cocktail (not quite as fun as other kinds of cocktails!), which is made primarily of adrenal-nourishing whole-food vitamin C and potassium. Even if you don’t have adrenal issues, chances are yours are taxed just from daily life stress, in which case this simple supplement can provide a little extra support. I like the powder form; I just mix one scoop into a glass of water daily, which has really helped to stabilize my energy levels.

Use
Healthier Cookware
Have you considered how your cookware is influencing your health? Plastic, aluminum and non-stick pots and pans can leach unwanted toxic chemicals into your food and contribute to an array of health problems, such as hormonal imbalance, thyroid issues and much more. In June of this year, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released a statement advising health authorities that “there is no safe level of PFAS or PFOS in drinking water,” alerting the public that even tiny amounts of these “forever chemicals” — used in millions of consumer products, including non-stick cookware — can cause cancer, infertility and cardiovascular risks. The better-for-you alternative: Choose pots and pans made of cast iron, stainless steel, glass, enamel or ceramic. A few of my favorites are Lodge Cast Iron, Our Place, Caraway Home and Le Creuset. Happy, healthy cooking!

Social Platform: BeReal
Before you roll your eyes at another social media platform, let me explain how this app has brought mindfulness and joy to my day. While most other social platforms suck up too much time and leave us with FOMO, BeReal offers a quick moment in time to authentically capture what you're up to, unposed, unfiltered and unplanned. Each day at a different time, the app sends a random notification to let users know it's time to "Be Real" and show what that moment in time in your life looks like. Users take an outward facing picture and a (usually deeply unflattering) selfie at the same time. It's a refreshing change from the typical social media game.

@creative_explained on Instagram
This video-based account by Armen Adamjan, an energetic (understatement!) content creator, shows zillions of plant and gardening tips and hacks that you never knew you needed. Think: everything from “how to grow a blueberry bush from one berry” to “how to make rosewater at home” (which, BTW, can be great for your skin) to “how to make healthy pineapple tea.” The videos are also a lesson in upcycling. Adamjan often uses the “don’t throw it out” catchphrase when he demonstrates, for example, how to use a plastic bottle to fashion a plant nanny that can keep your greenery alive while you’re on vacation. Best of all, Adamjan makes everything look so easy — no wonder he’s amassed 2.3 million followers on Instagram and 5 million on TikTok.

Gem Story Perfume Oils
Let’s be honest, some “clean” beauty and fragrance brands are kind of boring. But that’s not the case for Gem Story, a collection of luxe, all-natural, non-toxic, oil-based perfumes from Bios Apothecary that are infused with semi-precious crystals. The company describes their products as “multisensory” — you can use them during meditation and yoga practices, in aromatherapy rituals or as your everyday fragrance. My favorite is the Balance roll-on perfume, a warm stabilizing scent made with rosewood essential oil and jasmine extract and infused with tiger’s eye and quartz crystal. (Essential oils have been used in combination with crystals throughout history to focus and amplify their energy and healing properties.) Plus, the glass bottles with gleaming gems just look so pretty on your bathroom shelf. Come see for yourself at the retail shop at THE WELL New York!
