from the desk of: Lauren | Associate Editor & Book Club Co-Host It’s a very exciting season over in the Entertainment section of The Everygirls. Not only are we entering the summer reading months, the absolute best mood reading, in my humble opinion, but summer blockbusters are only weeks away, and the streaming lineup for June looks almost too good. But before we get too excited about what’s to come, let’s recap everything May had in store for the Everygirls in our little corner of the internet. You already know I had to talk about Book Club first because Garri and my literal baby (okay, I guess Garri has a literal, literal child, but you know what I mean) continues to grow, and we could not be more thrilled. Throughout May, we read Real Americans by Rachel Khong, which, if you haven’t read it yet, should be fast-tracked to the top of your TBR. In collaboration with BookSparks, we announced our June, July, and August book club picks to help fill out your summer TBRs. Plus an extra bonus pick because we all have a little more time to read on our hands and, honestly, we couldn’t narrow these four incredible books down to three. Head over to our Instagram for that reveal because it’s so cute you need to see it in action. P.S. We also just hit 10k over there, and we’re really proud of ourselves. Our review of April’s Book Club pick, Weavingshaw, was the top Entertainment story on our site this month, and we’re thrilled everyone loved this pick as much as we did. Next, the Everygirls were looking for truly life-changing reads, and you know our readers and editors delivered. Finally, if you want to make this the summer you finally turn reading into an actual hobby, these are the books for you. We’ll see you next month, and until then, we have author chats, special events, and more in the works for June. If you haven’t joined The Everygirl Book Club yet, this is the perfect opportunity to grab a copy of our next pick and join the community. from the desk of Hailey, Assistant Managing Editor I have to admit something: I thought FOR SURE that most of you would lose your work motivation the closer we inched toward summer. And sure, maybe some of you did (and to that I say we all must rest eventually!!), but most of you aren’t showing any signs of slowing down. In fact, you’re looking for ways to be happier, healthier, and wealthier by channeling the top 1% of women in the world. You go, girls! I do love the refreshed energy that the turn of the season brings, so I can’t blame you for leaning in. Right now, the seasonal shift is making a lot of us stop and think, “Do I really want this?” or “Is there something better out there for me?” or “Would I be happier if I tried something completely new?“ As you head into the summer season, my hope for you is that you spend just as much intentional time away from your desk as you do at your desk. This way, you might just get closer to answering those questions for yourself. From where I stand, it looks like you might be considering finally taking a chance on a side hustle or actually making changes in your routine or career so you can achieve more work-life balance. Whatever it is that’s on your mind and to-do list right now, know that I’m here rooting for you—and that I am determined to keep shelling out content this summer that’ll keep up with your drive (and your dreams).
