Quick Q's with Jenna Dewanmain character decisions, what wellness means, and the best advice she didn't take
What is something about you that most people would be surprised by? I am a complete mess. Like my car is as messy as you could ever imagine. There's always wrappers everywhere. I think people think like, oh, this girl's balance, and all it takes us like one look at my purse or my car to be like, okay. She's drives Steve crazy. Is he very Type A though? Does he keep you organized? Yes. Because of course, we all find each other and then we decide to be in partnership together, and we're so opposite. It's hilarious. He's got his side of the bathroom is perfectly set up, mine looks like it exploded, and the two of us have to survive together. It's like a bad reality show. ![]() photo via @jennadewan on IG
What is the most main character decision that you have made in the last year? To say yes to every opportunity, even if it doesn't make sense on paper that feels expansive. What does feeling well for you feeling actually look like right now? Feeling as much alignment and peace as possible. Meaning creating space for myself to calm my nervous system, to feel peace, to feel good about my decisions, to feel aligned with my decisions, to feel like as alive as possible while we're here. That's to me what wellness has always meant. There's all the things and everyone's done all the things. At the end of the day, I think we're all just wanting to feel as alive, and that means physically and spiritually and mentally, and feel as like lit up as possible. What is a belief that you had to unlearn to get to where you are now? Perfectionism. Being perfect, being a people pleaser, people pleasing tendencies. They are still like a thing I work on. Having boundaries that's important that like actually brings goodness to your life. I was like terrified to set a boundary for so long. It's wrapped up in fear and hurting people's feelings and all that stuff. So yeah. Had to let a lot of that go. What is the best advice that you didn't listen to, but you should have? To take time every single day for yourself. To slow down and just be with the quiet. When I do it, it's amazing. But I just it's so hard to. It would most likely be life changing for me, even if it's like five, ten minutes. I'm trying to do it more now, but I wish I had done it earlier. ![]() photo via @jennadewan on IG
What is a book that changed your life? There was a book, well there's a few, but I would say there was a book when I was 18, given to me by Janet Jackson’s masseuse actually. I think it was called the Law of Attraction. It was like one of the basic, old school, spiritually psychology based books. And it really, I felt like I was remembering something when I was reading it. It was a long book to basically say we are creating all the time how important it is to direct your thoughts towards what you want versus what's not working. Basically looking for the positive even when you feel badly. Let yourself just find the next positive thought and to have read that, pretty early on, I think was life changing as far as like how my outlook was. Where can everybody find you and get the book? Yes, you can get your signed copy of Happy Babies Poop on happyfamilyorganics.com. And me, I'm all over the place. Listen to the full interview:
