Alphabet’s Verily Lays Off 15% of Staff

Alphabet’s life-sciences subsidiary Verily is laying off 15% of staff, or around 250 employees, according to an internal memo reviewed by The Information. The move that raises the prospect of job cuts at sister company Google. In an email to staff Wednesday morning, CEO Stephen Gillett wrote that the company was prioritizing its “data and evidence” operations.
