Uber just released its 10th annual Lost & Found Index, a report dedicated to the weird, wild, and surprisingly relatable things riders leave behind. As for the items people actually forget most often? The classics still reign supreme: Phones, wallets, luggage, keys, and headphones.


This year's report also offered an unexpectedly accurate snapshot of modern life. Labubus were among the most frequently forgotten passengers, Crocs were abandoned in droves, and Uber backseats weren’t safe from wellness warriors, with riders leaving behind everything from pickleball paddles and sea moss to peptides and protein powder. Even bouquets and full floral arrangements were routinely forgotten before making it to their final destination.


Neuroscience tells us that there are reasons for forgetting and memory is fickle, but these patterns also speak volumes about what we can look out for:

  • Sundays are the most forgetful day of the week, likely thanks to weekend adventures (and perhaps a mimosa or two).

  • The most common time for lost items over the past decade is between 9 p.m. and midnight.

  • St. Patrick's Day, Halloween, and New Year's Eve continue to be the holidays most associated with forgotten belongings.

  • New York City topped this year's list of the most forgetful cities, followed by Miami and Chicago.


The takeaway? Before you hop out, do one last seat check. Your phone may survive the night without you—but your butterflies probably won't.
