By the end of Gong School, you will not just know how to play; you will understand how to listen.
You’ll have the ability to generate rich, textured, intentional sound. Not in a one-directional monologue, but to collaborate and be in a conversation with your instrument. The Gong is subtle, responsive, delicate and contains immense power all at the same time.
Many gong players you see are “intuitives” yet we will teach you in a practiced and intentional method, so you are capable of subtlety and nuance as well as raw power.
Become able to conduct and transform the energy in a room, for a private practice, a public performance, or an offering of deep service to others.
You will be trained in proven technique. Taught how to build touch, tone, timing, and intuition — so that your playing becomes an extension of who you are.
And something remarkable happens when you play from that place.
You begin to enter the field of morphic resonance, the unseen current of energy that has carried these sounds through generations of venerated masters.

Gong School is a 7-week program that begins on May 18, 2026.
The culmination is the creation and recording of your Capstone Project, a 20 minute Gong Based Meditation project you will bring to life.
Enrollment is extremely limited, to preserve the depth and intimacy of this experience.
You will learn through a structured, mentorship-based model, guided by Ben Irons, a symphonic percussionist and vibrational sound therapist. Ben's musical background has given him deep training of how to train, grow and evolve with these instruments, and it's this that we will pass on to you in this course.
Each week, you'll participate in a live virtual classroom session with Ben and your cohort, where you’ll receive instruction, ask questions, and continue building your skill and confidence as a gong practitioner.
Your weekly lessons will cover everything from mallet technique and playing zones to muffling, rolls, dynamic expression, and creating complete meditative sound journeys.
As part of your development, you’ll complete Listening Cards, curated assignments that help you study the work of other great players, and refine your critical ear and musical vocabulary.
All live sessions will be recorded and uploaded to your personal course portal, there is zero stress or worries if you have to skip sessions. It will be available to you for life.
Upon enrollment, you’ll be invited to join our private online community, where you can connect with fellow students, ask questions, share progress, and stay inspired alongside others walking the same path.
Need a gong? You don’t have to own one to begin.
We’ll help you find, borrow, foster, or purchase the right instrument for your needs, and a Gong School Mallet Bundle will also be available to students.

Hey Potential Future Gong Players -
Although I have known Ben for quite a while now, collaborating with him as we worked to bring this course to fruition has been a wonderful process for me.
I want to take a moment to share why I think we are so lucky to have a chance to learn from Ben.
Often, in our space there is much preference put on the intuitive nature of learning and playing.
We aren't degrading the idea of intuition, rather, up-leveling it.
Because Ben has practiced towards a physical, tactical mastery in the instrument of our choice, we can benefit from his structured approach to learning.
