A wind gong is a flat disc of B20 bronze, approximately 80 percent copper and 20 percent tin. It has no turned rim, no raised boss, and no single pitch that dominates the sound. That geometry is why the instrument speaks quickly and opens into a broad field of inharmonic overtones.
