It’s party season so quite a lot of alcohol can be consumed during this period.

Alcohol on a night out can rack up over a thousand calories, depending on how much you drink and your drink of choice.

Each gram of alcohol contains 7 calories. Bear in mind carbs and protein each have 4 calories per gram and fat has 9 calories per gram.

Now we’re not here to tell you not to drink alcohol, as we know you won’t listen 🤣

Instead, we thought we would give you the best options calorie wise.

  1. Champagne/Prosecco is 89 calories a glass.
  2. Spirits with diet soda, sparkling water, slimline tonic or soda water are around 60 calories for a 25ml shot of alcohol.
  3. Light beers are around 100 calories.
  4. Hard seltzers are around 100 calories.
  5. White wine spritzer - 50/50 wine and sparkling water is only 80 calories.

With wine and spirits the calories will depend on the alcohol content. The higher the alcohol percentage, the more calories.
