When I first received word that Amy and Traci were traveling to Nashville to source inspiration for our Spring 2027 Runway collection I got excited. Yes, sure, because the clothing, conceptualized through a western themed lens, would be right up my alley - but also because of the music that I knew we would look to in scoring our Runway show. For timeline context, I started curating our inspiration playlist in April. After sharing the inspiration boards full of Dolly Parton, historic Grand Ole Opry concerts, and more with Javier Peral, our runway music director, we met in August to align on the music direction and review his initial thoughts and finds. These meetings flow like a stream of consciousness from one mind to another where sentences and thoughts are finished by each other because of a connection only possible through decades of collaboration. Javier has an innate ability to distill a random and sometimes chaotic array of creative inspiration down to the essence of Tibi, and it is a skill only developed through a lifetime commitment to music - one that inspires me nearly every time a song comes on through my headphones. It is because of Javier’s creative genius that songs like The Summit and Go On and Your Shadow at Evening can not only work, but thrive alongside tracks like Seasons Come, Seasons Go, Rumble, and I Will Always Love You. And, that ethereal, almost haunting, whistle that sewed these tracks together, the all-purpose, elegant wine that somehow carried your meal from hearty and rich to light and airy, that was the intro to Ride On by my good friend Coleman Jennings.
While we don’t have the commercial licensing rights to use the live runway music in our campaigns, I would strongly suggest listening to our playlist as you take in the Spring 2027 collection. It is what plays in the background of our minds as we continue to produce the creative assets from our runway show, and is also just really really good.
