Why most guitar players quit too early.

Over the next 7 emails, I want to share some of the biggest lessons I've learned from working with more than 76,000 guitar players since 2014.

Not guitar lessons.

Lessons about why some people finally become guitar players... while others spend years starting and stopping (or never really start).

And the first one might surprise you.

Most people think guitar players quit because guitar is hard.

I don't think that's true.

I've seen people push through sore fingers, frustrating chord changes, and songs that seemed impossible.

The people who quit aren't usually the ones facing the biggest challenges.

They’re the ones who never experience a meaningful win.

Think about it.

Most guitar programs start with information.

Parts of the guitar.

Theory.

Terminology.

Exercises.

And while those things matter eventually, they don't answer the question every beginner is secretly asking:

"Can I actually do this?"

Over the years, I've learned that people need proof before they need more instruction.

They need a win.

Something that makes them think:

"Wait a minute... I might actually be able to play guitar."

That's why the first thing new TAC members experience isn't a deep dive into theory.

It's a quick win.

Something fun.

Something recognizable.

Something that helps them see progress before self-doubt has a chance to take over.

Because once someone starts believing they can do this...

Everything changes.

This week I'm opening enrollment for the Summer Guitar Reset inside Tony’s Acoustic Challenge.

It's built around the same ideas that have helped thousands of guitar players go from dabbling to playing.

I'll tell you more about it throughout this series.

But tomorrow, I want to share something that took me years to understand:

The one thing that the "old way" of learning guitar gets wrong, and how our students do the opposite to build momentum and joy from day one.

– Tony

Here’s what Preston said:

“I am 71 year old arthritic beginner with tiny fingers! After about two months, I feel like I am making progress. Tony's videos and emails encourage me to keep on keeping on. I believe him when he says to trust the process, practice the lesson, don't let not being perfect frustrate you but keep moving on to the next lesson. I would recommend to any one beginning to learn the guitar to take the 30 day challenge and then make a decision to keep going or not. I kept going, and am glad I did!” - Preston Hayes

Join Tony’s Acoustic Challenge today, grab your guitar, and get an early win that will show you proof that you can do this!
