this sentence changes everything

Cindy shared something with me recently that perfectly captured what I hope every guitar player eventually discovers.

She wrote:

"I appreciate the way you break down the new skills into smaller chunks, and that I shouldn't expect to master it before moving on to other skills."

That one sentence stopped me.

Because it's the exact opposite of how most of us think we're supposed to learn.

We tell ourselves:

"I'll move on once I've mastered this."

The problem is, "mastery" keeps moving farther away.

So we get stuck.

At TAC, I encourage members to keep going.

Not because the current lesson doesn't matter...

...but because you'll see that skill again.

And again.

And again.

Every time it comes back, you'll understand it a little better.

That's how real progress happens.

Not by getting everything perfect the first time.

By coming back to it with a little more experience than you had before.

It's a much more enjoyable way to learn guitar.

And from what I've seen over the years, it's also a much more effective one.

If you've been waiting until you're "good enough" to move forward, maybe it's time to try a different approach.
