You're closer than you think

Barbara wrote something to me recently that was only one sentence long.

"When you say, 'You're a guitar player,' I absolutely feel it."

I smiled when I read that because I know exactly what she's talking about.

I say those words a lot.

Not because I think repeating a phrase magically makes it true.

I say it because I've noticed that a lot of adults spend years calling themselves things like beginner, dabbler, or someone who's trying to learn guitar.

Those labels matter.

If you keep telling yourself you're just trying to become a guitar player, it's easy to believe you're still a long way off.

But if you picked up your guitar today...

If you practiced for ten minutes...

If you come back tomorrow...

You're already doing what guitar players do.

You ARE a guitar player.

That doesn't mean you've learned everything.

It doesn't mean every chord sounds perfect.

It just means you've stopped waiting for permission.

I think that's why Barbara's words stood out to me.

She wasn't celebrating a new chord or a new song.

She was celebrating a new way of seeing herself.

And once that changes, sticking with guitar gets a whole lot easier.

So here's the question I've been thinking about...

What if you stopped thinking of yourself as someone who's trying to learn guitar...

...and started thinking of yourself as a guitar player who still has plenty to learn?

If you'd like to see how thousands of adults are making that shift, I'd love to show you how Tony's Acoustic Challenge works.
