Hey there,

Okay, we aren't ACTUALLY playing Disc Golf today, although that may be a fun video in the future. What we are really doing is talking about our backswing and there is a lot we can learn from the principles of disc golf.

Today I bring in my Lead Assistant, Coach Mike Krahe, to help demonstrate the fundamentals of a functional backswing.

In the era of measuring speed, impact, smash factor, etc, the backswing is often overlooked in students swings, but it is one of the most vital aspects to proper rotation and ultimately compression of the golf ball leading to crisp, pure strikes.

Get that seam on your shirt to out turn your arms and build up a TON of power.

This is one of the simplest ways you can add distance to any shot, and all it takes is your ability to slow down and ensure you're properly positioned. Stand in front of a mirror or better yet record yourself and keep an eye on that seam down the side of your shirt. Dial that feeling in before your next round.

Out turn those arms and really feel what it means to smash the golf ball.

If you do this and slow things down, your buddies won't know what hit them when you walk off of the first tee.
