Goooood morning,

Oh hey, mother's day - how'd you sneak up on me like that? Well, this one goes out for the mamas out there <3

A bit of an Ops Update

Getting through our normal busy season typically means that things begin to slow down a little bit for everyone on the team - and yet this year it feels like we're only ramping up more and more. It's been a strange year - for snow, for sales, for being a small business - and if anything all of these factors have the whole crew thinking more and more about how we can bring TREW into the 11th gear for an epic 2026/27 season.

How can we get gear in-stock earlier? How can we get better marketing content in time for launch? How can we bring down our overhead and monthly expenses without compromising on our quality, both in our product and in our presence within the community and industry? These are the questions we've been churning and burning on for years, and yet it feels like the past few months have really brought them into under a brighter light. It's harder than ever to survive as a small brand among giants, to stay relevant and cool amidst a never-ending cycle of content and viral moments - but despite all of this, our deep-rooted positivity as both a company and as a team of passionate skiers and riders has us chomping at the bit to see what we can do. To make some tasty AF lemonade with nothing but lemon peels. So while our Spring and Summer months are usually a bit of a hiatus for us after a long Winter, this year we've got all hands on deck and a long list of to-dos to bring to life. Hopefully, ya'll enjoy what we've got brewing in the TREW kitchen...otherwise, we'll be SOL. But we'll cross that bridge when we get there ;)

Okay, now for the moms.

So...where do the mom's come in? Well here I am, about to celebrate my daughter's third birthday (she was born on Mother's Day) and currently on labor-alert for my second girl. It's a bit dangerous to give free emailing reign to a 38-week-pregnant toddler-mom (I am 100% a liability right now), but it did feel like a great opportunity to give a real, heart-felt shout out to all of the mothers out there that I didn't want to pass up on. To put it plainly: being a mom has been the hardest, most challenging things I have ever done (especially the past few months). I am so utterly humbled, nearly always frustrated, often confused about what the 'right' thing to do is, living with a mini-roommate who could explode into a unintelligible tantrum at any given moment...and yet so smitten by the little girl who I get to raise and filled to the brim with love for the growing family around me. What a trip!

But what I am really trying to say is that my level of appreciation and awe for all of the mothers out there making things work, grinding and surviving among everything that motherhood brings, is constantly rising as I experience the next phase of bringing up a human being. I can't help but think more and more about how my mom did it all. As a single mother of two working full-time, I can't even begin to fathom how she did it all. She worked her ass off each week only to drive me and my brother 5 hours north to Vermont every Friday night so that we could ski every weekend, then head back home Sunday night to begin a whole new workweek. Every weekend, without fail. I always knew she was my very own Wonder Woman, but it turns out she was more than that: she was a mom who put everything on hold for her kids, and it turns out that's more impressive than any comic book hero I can think of. Women - and in particular Moms - are capable of so damn much. It's almost scary what we can get through for the sake of our family. I was raised by an incredible woman, I continue to meet and surround myself with countless moms who give me hope, encouragement, and a shoulder when I need it, and if nothing else this Mother's Day I hope you can take a moment to reflect on the true impact that moms - whether it be your own mom or the many moms around you - have made on your life at any cost to their own well-being. And if you are a mom, I hope you can see past the current choas around you and see just how badass you are for taking on the most demanding, humbling, and life-changing jobs out there.

My mom doesn't subscribe to our emails, but maybe I'll send this one her way. Or better yet, I'll hand write this out for her on a giant card attached to that new pair of skis she's been thinking about getting and not-so-casually sending me links to. And with that, I'll wrap up this email while simultaneously signing off for my maternity leave. Fitting timing, right? I look forward to a summer off to adjust to 'fam-of-4' living, and you can bet I'll be back in the fall with all the long-winded, needlessly-wordy updates from the TREW Ops crew :)

Yours TREWly,

Katherine
