What is Palm Shortening?
In its natural state, palm oil is a mixture of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids, with most of the unsaturated fat being monounsaturated fat.
Palm shortening is palm oil that has some of its unsaturated fats removed, giving it a very firm texture, and high melting point. The melting point of our Palm Shortening is 97 degrees F., making it very shelf stable. It is NOT hydrogenized, and contains NO trans fats!
It is great for deep-fat frying and baking, and is not prone to rancidity. Since it has been separated from some of the unsaturated portion of the oil, it is colorless and odorless, and will not affect the taste of foods like Virgin Palm Oil does.
Love this product.
High flash point. Super long shelf life, well beyond posted date. I transfer small amount to a wide mouth Mason jar to keep handy and then refill from the tub as necessary. No flavor. I use it in place of oil or lard in pie crust. Also great for frying. - Karen V.

100% satisfied!
Great product! I've been using it to make home-made cold process soap and I haven't had the need to melt it prior to measuring since healthy tradition's palm shortening is evenly mixed all throughout. - Y. C.
Great Product
This makes wonderful cookies, piecrust and every kind of baking. I love that they test for Glyphosate as this is in most of our food. Thank you Healthy Traditions. - Debra N.
Palm shortening
I have been using Tropical Traditions, now Healthy Traditions, palm oil shortening for many years now. I love it in everything I bake that requires shortening. I would NEVER go back to a hydrogenated shortening. This is the best there is! - Vicki H.
