This International Tea Day, we’re celebrating the role tea can play in supporting stronger, more inclusive communities. The 2026 theme, Fostering Growth and Inclusion, highlights the importance of working towards a tea industry where progress can be shared more broadly, from smallholder farmers to tea estate workers and local communities.
At Twinings, this means looking beyond the cup and helping to support the long-term wellbeing of the communities behind our tea through our Sourced with Care programme.
Access to clean water and sanitation remains a challenge across many tea-growing regions, particularly for women and girls, where limited facilities can impact health, safety, education and economic opportunity. That’s why we continue to invest in practical, community-led solutions through our WaSH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) programme.
To date, we have built 3,596 latrines and 346 water points across India, Kenya and Sri Lanka, benefiting more than 18,700 people. These projects support safer working environments, better health outcomes and greater dignity for workers and their families. Because fostering growth and inclusion starts with creating the right foundations for people to thrive.
This International Tea Day, we’re proud to recognise that sustainability is not just about what we source, but how we support the people who make tea possible.
