UPDATE  ¡ VENEZUELA EARTHQUAKES |
|
|
Volunteers search for possible victims in a collapsed building following twin earthquakes in Venezuela, 40km northeast of Caracas, at the end of last week. An estimated 3.9 million children live in the areas affected by the earthquakes.

Dear -,
As you know, on 24 June two powerful earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude struck Venezuela just seconds apart, causing widespread destruction across Caracas and surrounding areas.Â
Â
As rescue efforts continue and the full scale of the damage becomes clearer, one thing is certain: the needs of children and families are immense, and they are urgent.

â Emergency teams are on the ground, scaling up support for children and families â racing to get medical supplies, safe water and sanitation into the hands of medical workers, communities and families.
â A first shipment of 20 metric tons carrying medical supplies, WASH items and tents arrived on 27 June, with a second shipment expected on 30 June. Together, these supplies are intended to support more than 100,000 people.
â UNICEF aims to reach approximately 650,000 people, including 234,000 children, with essential services across health, nutrition, WASH, child protection and education.
