I wanted to share the story of Eman, a mother of eight in Gaza. When we spoke with her, her youngest child, Ali, was severely malnourished. 

“I noticed he was always pale and tired, only lying down – not playing or smiling like other children his age,” Eman said. 

Displaced by the ongoing war, Eman’s family is living in a makeshift tent that floods with dirty water, leaving her children sick. Her husband is unable to work. Receiving only one meal a day from a community kitchen and unable to afford food from the local market, Eman must find enough food and water for her entire family. It’s an impossible situation.

Many families like Eman’s are struggling to survive – and not just in Gaza.

Across Lebanon, Iran and Syria, escalating violence and instability are driving families from their homes and stretching already struggling essential services to breaking point. Beyond the Middle East, in Sudan and Ukraine, years of conflict continue to disrupt and endanger the lives of millions of children.

Children in crisis can’t wait for lifesaving support. They need help now.

Eman has already seen how support from people like you can change everything. After Ali was diagnosed with severe acute malnutrition at a UNICEF-supported nutrition centre, he was given treatment including sachets of ready-to-use therapeutic food to help him regain weight and regular check-ins.
