I'm Pat Cummins, UNICEF Australia Ambassador, husband to Becky and proud dad to Albie and Edith.

One of my favourite things about being a dad is watching our kids grow. Hearing them laugh and watching them learn new things as their personalities develop a little more every day. It's in those moments that you realise just how much you want for your children. You want them to be healthy and happy, and have every opportunity to thrive.

And while Becky and I get to enjoy those precious moments with our kids, I often think about parents around the world facing challenges that no family should have to face alone.

One father who knows that feeling is Eurico, from Mozambique.

Meet Eurico and Amisse

When Eurico's young son Amisse became weak and unwell, he was terrified for his future. At just 18 months old, Amisse was suffering from malnutrition and urgently needed treatment.

Eurico with his 18-month-old son, Amisse, who recovered from malnutrition with support from a UNICEF-supported nutrition program in Mozambique.

Through a UNICEF-supported nutrition program, Amisse received Plumpy'Nut®, a miracle peanut paste, also known as a ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF) that helps children recover from severe acute malnutrition. Little by little, Amisse regained his strength.

For Eurico, it meant hope.

For Amisse, it meant the chance to grow up healthy and strong.
