Coffee has shaped Ronald Castaño’s life from the very beginning. Raised on his family’s farm in the hills of Tolima, he grew up immersed in the rhythms of cultivation, harvest and processing — learning the craft across generations.
While still in school, Ronald chose coffee as the focus of his graduation project, planting his first Geisha trees. He then spent the following three years working alongside his brother, further refining his approach to production and processing. In recognition of his dedication, his brother gifted him a parcel of land — the beginning of Ronald’s own project at La Sonora.
Today, at just 21 years old, Ronald represents a new generation of Colombian producers helping redefine what coffee from Colombia can become.
Grown across 8 hectares at 1,700 masl and fed by three natural water springs, Geisha trees sit among avocado, guava and walnut. Alongside his work on the farm, Ronald has also participated in regional reforestation programs, with this lot placing second during an intensive week of cuppings in Colombia.
Processed using the anaerobic honey method, this cup carries remarkable lift and structure. Notes of bergamot, cherry blossom and sage unfold with precision and a long, composed finish.
Delicate, but never quiet.
We will be roasting this coffee in limited batches on 10th and 17th June.
Exceptional coffees like this do not stay around for long.
