Picking the Perfect Sofa for your Small Space

Making a small room feel comfortable isn't about choosing the smallest furniture. It's about selecting pieces that fit your space thoughtfully while still giving you room to relax and entertain. Here are three of my favorite tips when helping clients furnish apartments, condos, and cozy living rooms.

1. Look Beyond Overall Width

Pay attention to the details that make a sofa feel lighter. Slim arms, clean lines, and raised legs create an open, airy look while maximizing your seating area. You'll often get more usable seat space without increasing the overall footprint.

2. Choose Furniture That Works Harder

Every piece should earn its place. A chair-and-a-half offers generous seating without the size of a loveseat, and a sleeper sofa is a smart way to accommodate overnight guests without dedicating an entire room to them.

3. Plan for the Way You Live
