One of the marvels of the UrbiPod is its simplicity and versatility. From the beginning we designed the UrbiPod so the customer had freedom of choice on what growing media, nutrient and seeds you wanted. This is still the case today and you will be able to find growing media, such as coir, perlite, or vermiculite; plus liquid nutrient and seeds from almost any garden centre or hydroponic store.
That said, not all growing ingredients are the same and we recommend the following substitute products for the UrbiPod. These products can be viewed, although not available, on our website and can be readily found at many instore and online stores.
- Complete Focus liquid Nutrient - made by the same manufacturers as our nutrient and is the closest formula match to our nutrient.
- HY-GEN Premium Coco Peat - unfortunately not all coco peat is the same as washing standards to remove salt and other properties can vary.
The UrbiPod has very few limited life parts. The most important replacement part that we recommend you purchase is the power pack as it operates at our specified voltage (32 W. 0.8A). The power pack has built in protection to regulate the power to the unit. We still have some left in stock and available on our store. See link below.
General Maintenance Tips:
- Your LED halo has a life of +50,000 hours or more than 6 years and therefore will last you for many years.

Our wicking systems can be periodically washed in warm water to extend their life. If you encounter wicks that don't appear to be properly drawing water you can download and view these instructions. Dry Pods? Here's What to Do – Urbotanica
- We recommend you clean your UrbiPod every 12 months. Simply remove the Halo and power cable from the unit. Empty the water and undo the 4 screws in the underside of the base to remove. You can then hand wash with warm water the inside reservoir where mineral salts may build up. DO NOT put in the dishwasher.

We also recommend that you join the UrbiPod Enthusiasts Facebook Group - (20+) Urbipod Enthusiasts | Facebook . This Group was started by our customers and is full of very helpful UrbiPod owners happy to share their knowledge.
