A Peek Inside Kyle Purnell’s mind

You may know Kyle Purnell from Stretch Deck, Big Picture, or any number of his other creations, but you’re going to get to know him even better with June’s Masterclass. Kyle has the rare ability to create highly original magic that is simultaneously fooling, creative, and just plain entertaining to watch.

For June’s Masterclass, he's sharing what he calls "cerebral card magic". These are effects that walk the line between mental magic and mentalism, all while staying visual, playful, and incredibly magical.

Kyle kicks off week 1 with a bang. He shares five hard-hitting effects with cards that are unlike anything we’ve seen before. Our favorites are his “Extrapolation Deck”, a versatile tool that unlocks peeks, predictions, and even memdeck-style routines with zero memorization, and “Calculator Cards”, a visual, mind-bending routine that uses an interesting force that we think you’ll enjoy.

The creativity doesn’t stop in week 2. Kyle teaches eight wildly different ideas, all of which are super creative. There are lots of great tricks here, but our favorites have to be Kyle’s handling of Aaron Fisher’s Search and Destroy. It’ll take some practice to learn, but it is well worth the effort for this insane card effect. Our other favorite has to be his ideas for Post-It Pads. He’s created a clever way of creating a pad that can force and peek, and another one that he uses as an index. It’ll have you driving to an office store as soon as you watch it!
