In case you missed it: on Friday, we finally opened pre-orders for the He Familyâs stunning classic harvests- including their beloved Laoshan Black, Laoshan Green, Laoshan oolongs and more.
It was a tough choice, but even with shipping costs up, continued tariffs, and rising costs across the board, we have held firm with the same pricing for these spring 2026 teas as we were able to offer last year.
The He Familyâs teas are such a big part of so many of our lives, that I want to keep them as accessible as possible. On the other side, pre-orders are so important to the He Family that it is worth it for us to absorb these additional expenses to be sure that Qingqing, Mr. He and the whole extended family get the most orders possible.

So, why are pre-orders so important for us and the He Family?
Every small farmer has to spend a ton of money in the weeks leading up to their harvest, and the He Family is no exception. They have to buy supplies for their workshop while continuing to tend their plants in the fields. They also need help from both sides of the whole family for harvest week and finishing week. That means asking the family to drop everything. Qingqingâs husband, Mr. Liu, has to close up his bakery for nearly a month. At the same time, Mr Heâs cousin closes his restaurant, and his nephew stops taking his fishing boat out to the harbor. All of this means Mr. He wants to compensate everyone to keep the whole family thriving. This is a huge cost that he insists on, but for a family farm like theirs, this is the only way to keep everything running.Â
All of this means that the He Family needs to come up with a substantial amount of money in the spring, even though they also had to spend the entire winter tending and protecting their tea plants under carefully-constructed greenhouse covers.
Tea farming is so seasonal and unpredictable that a small farmer canât just pick a bunch of tea and hope for the best. They need support from us as the importer with promised big purchases before the harvest is finished. Thatâs our commitment to their family - to carefully forecast what we think you all will want to drink for the whole year and buy it all up front, transferring them the money for these purchases early enough that it has a magnified effect on their ability to invest back into their community, their land, their family and their workshop.

These are in-flight now. We are watching their journey carefully, but they left the Hong Kong airport yesterday, so we are expecting them to land in the US any minute now. That means that as long as customs is fast, weâre hoping to ship these teas next week.
If you havenât pre-ordered Reserve Harvests yet, be sure to grab what you can, knowing you wonât have to wait long. Once these sell out, there will be no restock until 2027!
