Hi ,
In 2009, my wife handed me a box.
Inside was an Arduino Uno. She thought it would be a fun little hobby. Something to keep me busy on weekends.
She was right about the busy part.
I disappeared. Completely. Three weeks, people. THREE WEEKS. Wiring things. Breaking things. Fixing things. Staring at a breadboard like it owed me money.
She would walk in and I would not even blink. She would say my name and I would go "mmhmm" like some kind of robot that had forgotten how to be a husband.
She told me she was jealous. Of a circuit board.
A. CIRCUIT. BOARD.
I said that was a completely reasonable thing to feel. She did not agree. Shockingly.
I could not stop. Every time something worked, I needed to know what else could work. That pull just kept going. Into Raspberry Pi. Into 2am forum rabbit holes. Into "wait, can it actually DO that?" energy that I still have not recovered from.
Eventually it became Vilros. Not because of some grand plan. Because I found a community of people equally unhinged about small blinking things, and I wanted to get them better gear.
That is still what this is. Someone curious, a box of parts, and absolutely no idea what they are about to build.
My wife still brings up those three weeks. Without fail.
I have learned to laugh faster.
She says hi. Sort of.
Still hooked,
Asher Klein,
