I never develop a color because of a trend. It always starts with a feeling or inspiration that gets into my head and has to come out of my system. Chocolat was no different—and also one of the hardest to get right. Brown is super tricky, so I went back to the ’90s, rewatching old films and rediscovering those iconic brown lips. I wanted to create my own version—inspired by artisan chocolate with a touch of cream—rich and dimensional but effortless for today. It took a long time and the tiniest adjustments with the lab until we found exactly the right balance.

And somewhere in that process, the shade took on something more emotional. It started to represent this feeling I love: being at home, completely comfortable, where I can be vulnerable, playful, dress up for no one, enjoy a treat, and do exactly as I please. It’s that extroverted-introvert side of me—expressing myself completely, while feeling totally safe. That feeling became as much a part of the shade as the color itself. I hope it gives you that same freedom to simply be yourself.
