Our Summer issue hit newsstands this week, and it’s so much fun to see it in the windows at local shops—especially Iconic Magazines on the Lower East Side, where we hosted a block party on Tuesday afternoon to celebrate the issue and our custom Vogue ice cream flavor, Vogue à la Mode. |
Scoop, There It Is!
Matthieu Blazy has made mint green fashion’s favorite color, and we created a Vogue ice cream with that in mind: a fresh Vietnamese and spearmint flavor with chocolate-covered, espresso-soaked honeycomb. (The subtle crunch is ecstatic!) You have two weeks to get to Morgenstern’s to try it for yourself—and if you go next door and buy our Summer issue from Iconic Magazines, you can get discounts on both. Talk about a summer scoop! I wore a pleated, pale mint Khaite skirt and matched the ice cream to a T.
The same evening, we transformed the pop-up space between Morgenstern’s and Iconic into a gallery with blown-up pictures from our USMNT fashion story. The whole block party really brought the issue to life: model Sara Grace Wallerstedt, who starred in our Texas shoot, got to see the issue for the first time and pose with it; and Gracie Abrams even DMed me asking how long her cover would be in the windows at Iconic, in case she could come by and visit when she’s next in New York. |
Spotted! Team Congo Is the Cat’s Meow
At the beginning of the World Cup, we all swooned for Team Democratic Republic of Congo’s airport arrival in coordinated leopard-accented suits. Afterward, Anna Cafolla interviewed 30-year-old designer Alvin Mak, who explained how the suits’ design drew inspiration from the La Sape movement, and contextualized the leopard’s place in Congolese culture. Mak, who learned his craft from YouTube tutorials rather than fashion school, has since opened up orders for the suits and matching bags on his website and has already received more than 100 requests! |
Let’s Get on with the Chaud
The men’s shows are happening in Paris this week and the temperatures have broken records, getting up to 110 degrees in the sun on Wednesday. Different designers have dealt with this in different ways: Dior finally swapped the cashmere polo sweaters for polo T-shirts for their chic ushers and offered guests calligraphed paper fans; Pharrell created an actual ocean wave at Louis Vuitton; and Saint Laurent…put Connor Storrie in knee-high latex socks. Max Berlinger has a very funny report on the heat index in Paris and Acielle photographed JR’s cavernous installation on the Pont Neuf, which must have felt like a furnace! |
Capture the Flags!
As we worked on our American-themed Summer issue, we kept returning to a simple question without a simple answer: How can we reframe American narratives and symbols that have begun to feel so politically charged? A prime example is the American flag—which is why we collaborated with the CFDA on a project commissioning more than 100 American designers to reimagine all our state flags, offering new and unexpected perspectives on some of the country’s most recognizable imagery. Our very own Hazel Zavala Tinoco also created a special flag for Vogue. |
Parks and Recreation
My children complain if they are asked to walk five blocks, so I don’t think embarking on trail treks is in my near future. But I do have great dreams of visiting America’s national parks with my family when my kids are older, assuming the current administration doesn’t jeopardize my and others’ ability to do so. I loved Nicole Phelps’s ode to those parks, which squares perfectly with the general esprit of 2026 being a Wet Hot American summer rather than a Euro summer. Get camping! |
Through the Looking Glasses
After our ice cream extravaganza on Tuesday, I went to Meta’s big reveal of their new AI glasses and tried out the new Kylie Jenner-designed, cat-eye-shaped ones that speak to you in an AI-Kylie voice. I chatted with Kylie herself, who was wearing biscuit-colored leather Tom Ford-era Gucci, and she proudly told me about the trays of vintage sunglasses she brought in for reference when designing the Kylie Starfire style. It was an intriguing evening: Raúl Àvila designed a floral sculpture in the swooping infinity sign of the Meta logo, caviar-topped chicken tenders were passed, and Timothée Chalamet lurked in a corner wearing a baseball cap and a cinched hoodie. |
In the Swim of Things
I’m heading to Charleston this weekend to spend a few days at the beach with my in-laws. I doubt I will be doing much reading on the beach (dribble castles beckon), but I brought Nancy Lemann’s The Oyster Diaries in case, and have started listening to David Sedaris’s new book (I love that he always narrates them himself). I was inspired by our beach reads with beach bags shoot highlighting some of our favorite (and most anticipated) summer releases, both literary and accessory!
I myself am a sucker for a straw bag in the summer, no matter how impractical they may be for the 1 train. I’ve been using my Chloé monogrammed woven tote but I love the shopping team’s edit of the best raffia bags for the season. A basket bag always makes me feel like I’m one step closer to vacation…or Jane Birkin. |
It’s in the Cards
At Vogue we’ve been talking a lot about tarot and how it has steadily become de rigueur for fashion insiders like Jonathan Anderson. Hannah Jackson interviewed a handful of designers and tarot readers about what they see in the cards—just in time for the Morgan Library’s summer exhibition on the history of tarot, which I can’t wait to visit. (The Visconti-Sforza deck is gorgeous—as are our illustrations by Jackie Hatys, Danny Ische, and Casey Nicoli.) |
I Scream, You Scream!
Apparently everyone on X is talking about Summerween, which basically just means people like watching horror movies during the summer (see the success of Backrooms and Obsession). Erik Morse explored the phenomenon for us, and drew up 10 classic movies to get your summer off to the scariest start. Even Ghostbusters is too scary for me, personally, so my version of Summerween was going to the Carol Reed retrospective at Film Forum for The Third Man, one of my favorite movies (and scores!) and also one of the most suspenseful. I still gasp every time the light falls on Orson Welles’s face for the first time. |
