Graphene conducts heat better than any material on Earth. Which is why in
the Graphene Jacket, it sits at the core rather than on the surface.
We sandwich a graphene membrane in between two layers of super thin nylon mesh before laminating the three layers together to create a single ultralight fabric.
While the mesh protects and strengthens the membrane, microscopic gaps let the graphene nanoplatelets interact with your body and the outside world at the same time.
In cold weather the graphene helps equalise your skin temperature, moving heat from the hot parts of your body like your head to the cold parts like your hands.
Lab tests have shown it raises skin temperature by an average of 2°C, and that the closer the material sits to your body the more effectively it works.
You can also load the jacket up with heat before you put it on. Leave it in the sun or over a radiator and the graphene will store that heat and spread it around your body. You can watch it happen with a thermal imaging camera – put your hand on the material, take it away, and the handprint stays there long after the hand has gone.
That graphene membrane can also keep you cool when you warm up. In lab tests the humidity next to the body stayed consistently lower during every phase of exercise and recovery, so you should feel less hot and sweaty.
And a true multi-tasker, the graphene membrane is what also keeps you dry. It stops water penetrating from the outside while letting sweat vapour escape from the inside, so the jacket is highly waterproof and highly breathable at once.
Every seam of the jacket is fully sealed. The front zipper is two-way and water resistant, the pockets sit behind storm flaps, and the back is cut with a drop tail. The outer layer is treated with a water-repellent coating so rain beads off the surface and the jacket dries fast.
