The Fabric
100% Cotton Twill, BCI Cotton, 285gsm
Twill is one of the oldest weave structures in workwear. The diagonal weave pattern, the thing that gives it that distinctive ribbed texture, is also what makes it so hard-wearing. The interlacing of threads at an angle distributes tension more evenly than a plain weave, which means it resists tearing and abrasion far better than most fabrics at the same weight.
It also provides a slight natural give. Not stretch in the performance fabric sense, more the kind of give that means the fabric moves with you rather than against you. You feel it when you bend down, reach forward, or spend a full day on your feet.
Twill is what the original railway workers wore. It's what made its way into denim and into the utility trousers that have been worn in factories and workshops for over a century. The Worker's Club collection uses a medium weight version, durable and structured enough to hold its shape, light enough to wear through summer.
