Hi -,
Summer always feels like a sprint — in the best possible way. More going on, more to look forward to, more reasons to be tired by 9pm.
This week I actually meal prepped for the first time and made our split pea soup (above!). An immersion blender? Game changer. I don't know why I waited so long to try this recipe.
But here's the thing about sprints: you have to be strategic.
In the next two weeks, I'm moving cross country. And I've made a deliberate choice to not spend this last chapter of our time here stressed about groceries, throwing away ingredients we never got to, or spending a fortune on takeout while surrounded by half-packed boxes.
I ordered Chiyo for the next two weeks. Not because I can't cook. Because I want to be present. I want to walk to our usual spots one more time. I want to sit on the floor of an almost-empty apartment and feel all of it — not be distracted by trying to find dinner.
Chiyo gives me routine when everything else is in flux. It's one less decision. One less thing to scramble for. A warm meal that shows up exactly when I need it.
Whatever your version of "transitional chaos" looks like right now — new baby, new city, new job, just a very full summer — I hope you find your version of that, too.
