"The 2024 Rosé Confidencial Reserva has an enticingly savory, herbaceous nose that feels much more precise than the other two Rosés in the range. Broad and salty, it kicks out flavors of rhubarb, vanilla custard and crushed rocks, leaving a nice mineral inflection on the clean finish." —Vinous (88 points)
Casa Santos Lima is a family-owned Portuguese winery whose story reaches back to Joaquim Santos Lima, already a prominent wine producer and exporter by the end of the 19th century. In 1990, his great-grandson José Luís Santos Lima Oliveira da Silva, together with his granddaughter Maria João Santos Lima, relaunched the company, replanting much of the vineyards and modernizing the winery. Today, the family works across several Portuguese wine regions, with its main estate at Quinta da Boavista in Alenquer, about 45 kilometers north of Lisbon.
Confidencial Rosé is a Lisbon-region blend built from traditional Portuguese grape varieties, with the winery keeping the exact blend, fittingly, confidential. Made from red grapes with a short period of skin contact, it pours a pretty salmon color and brings ripe red-fruit and floral aromas, juicy berry character, refreshing acidity and a pleasantly long finish. Chill it well and pour it with grilled shrimp, seafood salads, or grilled chicken.
