On Thursday 25th June, we are delighted to welcome Axel Levaut of Pradel de Levaut to the newly opened Nove Restaurant in Malahide for what promises to be one of the most special evenings in our Meet the Winemaker series to date.
The Pradel de Lavaux family have been cultivating vines in Saint-Émilion since the seventeenth century. That is not a typo. Four hundred years of the same family, the same terroir, the same dedication to the Right Bank of Bordeaux. Their operational hub is Château Martinet in Libourne, from which Axel oversees a remarkable collection of estates including Saint-Pierre, Clos du Vieux Plateau Certan, Haut Cloquet, and Clos des
Galevesses in Pomerol. These are wines grown on some of the finest terroir in all of Saint-Émilion, and yet they remain genuinely and refreshingly well priced for wine lovers and collectors alike. That combination of pedigree and accessibility is rarer than you might think in Bordeaux, and it is a big part of why we have been so proud to represent these wines for over five years now.
Axel has managed the family business and overseen winemaking across the estates since 2014, and if you ever get the chance to hear him speak about his wines, you will understand immediately why we were so keen to bring him to Dublin. He is a talented winemaker, yes, but he is also a genuine storyteller. Someone who can place a wine in its landscape, its history, its season, and make you feel the whole thing. Evenings like this are
about so much more than what is in the glass, and with Axel at the table, we are in for something very special indeed.
On the night, we will open at 7:00pm with a glass of Champagne as a welcome aperitif before Axel guides us through a selection of back vintages from across the estates, chosen specifically for their drinkability and the stories they have to tell. This will be an intimate evening with strictly limited attendance, smaller than many of our winemaker dinners, and all the better for it. The conversation will be closer, the atmosphere more personal, and the
wines all the more memorable for it. It is a must-attend evening for any serious Bordeaux lover.
The setting could not be more fitting. Nove Restaurant on St James Terrace in Malahide opened its doors recently under the guidance of acclaimed restaurateur Oliver Dunne, and we are thrilled to be returning for our second Meet the Winemaker event there. For those travelling from the city or further afield, Nove is just two minutes on foot from Malahide Train Station, with DART and Intercity rail connections serving Dublin and the surrounding counties.
The evening will wrap up at 10:30pm in plenty of time for the last trains home.
