The 2025 campaign is building nicely now, and this week brings some of the most exciting releases of the season. We have seven wines to share with you, spanning the full range from brilliant-value entry points into Pauillac and Saint-Julien all the way up to one of the greatest wines on earth.
We'll start with two wines from the Barton family, whose Irish roots and long Bordeaux story we've always admired. Mauvesin Barton, the family's Moulis en Médoc estate, is the perfect gateway into this year's campaign for those looking for something genuinely accessible. A split of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, it's crunchy, energetic and layered, with currants, nutmeg and a juicy finish that makes it hard to
resist young. James Suckling scored it 91-92 points. Alongside it, ChĂąteau Langoa Barton from Saint-Julien steps things up considerably. Cropped at just 20 hectoliters per hectare, one of the lowest yields ever recorded at the estate, the 2025 is a gorgeous expression of the address: blueberry and cassis on the nose, fine caressing tannins, beautifully balanced with real energy and punch. Neal Martin called it "a gorgeous Langoa" and Jane Anson said it was "very
drinkable wine, hard to beat in terms of pleasure delivery." Scores range from 91 to 95 points across the board.
And then there is Léoville Barton, and this year it carries extra meaning. The estate celebrates its 200th vintage in 2025, a remarkable milestone, and the wine itself is worthy of the occasion. Cropped at just 22 hectoliters per hectare, a blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and Cabernet Franc, it shows crÚme de cassis, violets, pencil shavings and beautifully integrated oak. Neal Martin scores it 95-97, calling
it "superb" with an "exquisite bouquet." Jane Anson went to 97 points, writing about "layer upon layer of crayon, graphite, textural interest and character" and placing it "right at the top of the vintage." For investment, for the cellar, or simply to mark something worth marking, this is the wine to drink. LĂ©oville Barton is available for the first time in 3 bottle cases at just âŹ215, an accessible way into one of Saint-Julien's greatest wines at a genuinely
historic moment.
Moving to Pauillac, ChĂąteau Lynch Bages needs very little introduction. The 2025 is a blend of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot and a touch of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, and it has drawn some of the most enthusiastic notes of the week. James Suckling scores it 97-98 points, describing "great energy, precision and focus" with dark fruits, mineral nuances and a cool minty note. Jeff Leve went to 97 points, writing about
"an ocean of chewy currants, sweetness, lift and complexity" that is somehow also "seemingly weightless and deceptively easy to drink." This is a fan favourite for us so for the first time, we are offering Lynch Bages in a 3 bottle case at just âŹ250, making it a brilliant starting point for anyone dipping their toes into Pauillac at this level.
Worth mentioning alongside it is Echo de Lynch Bages, the estate's second wine, which in 2025 is drawing unusually high praise. Jane Anson scored it 94 points, calling it "one of the sibling wines of the vintage" and noting a far clearer link with the main Lynch Bages estate than most second wines manage in any year. A 53/47 Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon blend, with structured toasted spice, dark chocolate, espresso and
graphite, it's a serious wine in its own right and a smart way into the Lynch Bages stable at a more accessible price.
Also released this week is ChĂąteau Duhart Milon, the fourth growth Pauillac estate managed by the Lafite Rothschild team. The 2025 is a blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon and 27% Merlot, with wild blueberries, cassis, rose petals and a beautifully mineral, graphite-driven palate. Jane Anson described "beautiful Cabernet Sauvignon character, super floral and characterful, with lots of lift and tension," scoring it 95 points. In a
vintage where Pauillac performed so brilliantly, Duhart Milon is one of the smartest ways to get a piece of it.
And then there is ChĂąteau Lafite Rothschild. One of the lowest yields in the estate's history, clocking in at just 12.5% ABV, and already drawing perfect or near-perfect scores from every major critic. James Suckling gives it 98-100, Jeff Leve 99 points. Neal Martin, upon leaving the chĂąteau after tasting it, wrote that it was only walking back to his car that he realised what a brilliant wine the 2025 Lafite is destined to become. A
blend of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and Petit Verdot, it shows sweet tobacco, cedar, roses and wet earth, with finely chiselled tannins and extraordinary harmony from start to finish. Quantities available to us are seriously limited.
Wines are moving quickly this week. If you'd like daily updates as new releases land, sign up to our En Primeur mailing list here and you'll be first to know. As always, Michael and I are on hand to help you find the right wines for your budget or your collection.
Cheers,

Vintage:Â 2025 Colour:Â Red Style:Â Dry

ABV: 13.0%Â
Description:
Cropped at a mere 20 hectoliters per hectare, one of the lowest yields ever recorded at this address, the 2025 Langoa Barton offers up aromas of dark berries, pencil shavings, spices and new oak. Medium- to full-bodied, with bright acids and chalky tannins, it's a blend of 45% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc. 92/94 William Kelley, Wine Advocate, April 2026
The 2025 Langoa-Barton was picked
between September 4 and 18 and matured in 60% new oak barrels. It has a lively bouquet with the Merlot in full effect, blueberry and cassis scents, and just a background touch of peppermint. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, a lovely caressing texture, very well balanced with a touch of pepperiness towards the persistent finish. What a gorgeous Langoa! 2030 - 2055 92/94 Neal Martin, vinous.com, May 2026
Focused, with volume and drive, it
shows aromas of berries, warm spices and some leather. Medium- to full-bodied with fine, firm tannins. Structured and compact, with bright fruit at its core. Long, focused finish. 94/95 James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com, April 2026
Langoa is very much a wine of the moment, with a sense of energy and punch, and you get that here, juicy and characterful, raspberry and cherry pit, hard to beat in terms of pleasure delivery. Great stuff. Very drinkable
wine. Tasted twice, love the energy here. 2034-2044. 93 Jane Anson, JaneAnson.com, April 2026
The 2025 Langoa-Barton is a very racy wine. Plush contours and vibrant dark red/purplish fruit are the signatures. Crushed flowers, cinnamon, red plum, blood orange and dried herbs open nicely in the glass. Floral overtones brighten the finish. This mid-weight, fruity, Merlot-driven Saint-Julien is all charm. It should drink well with minimal cellaring.
Tasted two times. 2033 - 2050 91/93 Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, April 2026

Chateau Lafite Rothschild Pauillac 2025 En Primeur 3 Btl. Case
|
|
Country: France Region: BordeauxÂ
Varietal:Â 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot.
Vintage:Â 2025 Colour:Â Red Style:Â Dry
Producer:Â Chateau Lafite Rothschild
ABV: 12.5%Â
Description:
Today sees the relase of Chateau Lafite 2025, an oustanding vintage in terms of quality but one of the lowest yields in the estateâs history. Clocking in at just over 12.5% ABV, this is a marvellous Lafite.
Quantities available are seriously limited.
âIntense aromas of sweet tobacco, dark cedar, cigar humidor, mushroom, roses, and wet earth follow through to a medium to full body with firm, velvety tannins and a driven, intense finish. Very structured with bones. Reminds me of Lafite from the 1980s. Unique for the vintage. 12.5% alcohol. A blend of 94% cabernet sauvignon, 5% merlot and 1% petit verdot.â James Suckling 98-100/100
âCuban cigars, cedar, crĂšme de cassis,
blackberries, flowers, espresso, and forest leaves set the wine's perfume. Refined, elegant, precise, and pure, the fruit tastes as if it were just pulled from the vines. Expressive, vibrant, long, and packed with blackberries, currants, Indian spices, tobacco, and marine influences, the seamless, graceful finish does not want to quit, passing the 60-second mark with ease.â
Jeff Leve 99/100
âThe 2025 Lafite-Rothschild was cropped at
27 hl/ha between September 2 and 20. Eric Kohler mentioned that, unlike 2022, it underwent a longer maceration than usual because, after 24 days, he felt the wine was at ease with itself and there was no excess. That comes through completely on the deliriously intoxicating nose, replete with nuanced blackberry, bilberry and estuarine scents, all beautifully defined and seamlessly integrated with the 90% new oak that is made from Lafiteâs own cooper. The palate is medium-bodied with finely
chiselled tannins. It is blessed with extraordinary harmony and it is so well balanced that you almost overlook the weight and minéralité towards the finish. Just a dab of graphite lingers on the aftertaste. This is a very succinct and refined Lafite-Rothschild that I suspect will drink earlier than the 2022, yet will age with equal grace in bottle. I admit that, 0upon returning to my car, it was only then that I realised what a brilliant wine the 2025 Lafite-Rothschild is destined to
become.

Chateau Duhart Milon Pauillac 2025 En Primeur 6 Btl. Case
|
|
Country: France Region: BordeauxÂ
Varietal:Â 73% Cabernet Sauvignon and 27% Merlot,
Vintage:Â 2025 Colour:Â Red Style:Â Dry
Producer:Â Chateau Lafite Rothschild
ABV: 13.5%Â
Description:
A blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon and 27% Merlot, the 2025 Duhart-Milon is a lovely classic in the making, offering up notes of wild blueberries, cassis, rose petals and orange zest, followed by a medium- to full-bodied, pure and polished palate that's lively, harmonious and suave. It checks in at a modest 12.5% alcohol. 93/95 William Kelley, Wine Advocate, April 2026
The 2025 Duhart-Milon was picked from September 4
to 22. It has a very delineated and quite mineral-driven bouquet, very focused with beautifully integrated oak. The palate is medium-bodied with chiselled tannins, layered graphite-infused black fruit and a strict and linear, sapid finish that could only come from Pauillac. Almost a minimalist Duhart-Milon in some ways, but less is more. 2030 - 2055 92/94 Neal Martin, vinous.com, May 2026
A juicy and savory red with blackberry, chocolate, dried meat
and earth aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied with plenty of flavor and a forest floor aftertaste. Ripe tannins. A blend of 73% cabernet sauvignon and 27% merlot. 95/96 James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com, May 2025
Rosebud, liquorice, beautiful Cabernet Sauvignon character, savoury but super floral and characterful, lots of lift and tension, great quality, There is an edge of austerity that you feel will really benefit from the ageing - which is the feel
overall of this vintage, where the ageing will be important. Harvest September 4 to 24. Yield 25 hl/ha. 45% new oak. 3.7 pH. 2034-2044. 95 Jane Anson, JaneAnson.com, April 2026
The 2025 Duhart-Milon offers a captivating mix of brilliant red-toned fruit, blood orange, pomegranate and wild flowers. Readers will find a Duhart that bristles with energy. The purity of the flavors is just captivating. It's one of my favorite recent vintages here
because of its vibrancy and textural finesse. The blend is 73% Cabernet Sauvignon and 27% Merlot, picked from early to mid-September, always a few days later than at Lafite. 2030 - 2040 92/94 Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, April 2026

Chateau Leoville Barton Saint Julien 2025 En Primeur 3 Btl. Case
|
|
Country: France Region: Bordeaux MedocÂ
Varietal:Â 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc
Vintage:Â 2025 Colour:Â Red Style:Â Dry
Producer:Â Chateau Leoville Barton
ABV: 13.0%Â
Description:
Another wine that will appeal to purists, the 2025 Léoville Barton offers up notes of crÚme de cassis, violets, pencils shavings and new oak, followed by a medium- to full-bodied, taut and penetrating palate that's racy and youthfully structured, with a concentrated mid-palate that reflects the very low yields (22 hectoliters per hectare) this year. It's a blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc, harvested between September 4 and
18. 93/95 William Kelley, Wine Advocate, April 2026
The 2025 Léoville Barton was picked between 4 September and 18 September and matured in 60% new oak barrels. This has an exquisite bouquet already, with ebullient blackberry and bilberry scents, beautifully integrated oak, keeping the DNA of Léoville Barton despite the warm summer. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, gentle grip, very pure fruit and a "cool" and focused finish.
With lower alcohol, between 13.0 and 13.5%, the terroir really shows through here. Superb. 2034 - 2055 95/97 Neal Martin, vinous.com, May 2026
Dark ripe fruit and a touch of licorice on the nose. Medium- to full-bodied with a firm tannic structure on the palate, showing dark fruit, chocolate and walnut flavors. 95/96 James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com, April 2026
Beautiful vintage at Léoville Barton,
delivers layer upon layer of crayon, graphite, textural interest and character, we are on another level of St Julien and right at the top of the vintage. Black chocolate and espresso coupled with finesse and fragrance that takes you into the heart of St Julien. A flood of flavour, what a brilliantly judged wine, powerful with air in all the right places. Just a breath below the brilliant 2023 for me. 2034-2044. 97 Jane Anson, JaneAnson.com, April 2026
The 2025 Léoville Barton is one of my early favorites of the vintage. It carries all the textural intensity and richness of a vintage with paltry yields. As such, it is not an especially classic Léoville Barton, but it is undeniably gorgeous. Black fruit, gravel, chocolate, new leather and licorice add to an impression of gravitas. As always, there's a healthy amount of press wine in the blend. Readers will have to be patient with the 2025, but there's a lot of potential. Tasted two
times. 2035 - 2065 94/96 Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, April 2026

Echo Lynch Bages Pauillac 2025 En Primeur 6 Btl. Case
|
|
Country: France Region: BordeauxÂ
Varietal:Â 53% Merlot, 47% Cabernet Sauvignon
Vintage:Â 2025 Colour:Â Red Style:Â Dry
Producer:Â Chateau Lynch Bages
ABV: 13.5%
Located in the Bordeaux region, ChĂąteau Lynch-Bages is a flagship estate of the Pauillac appellation. While the first vineyard plots date back to the 17th century, the estate truly took shape in its current identity in the 18th century with the arrival of the Lynch family. Classified as a Fifth Growth in 1855, the property was acquired in 1939 by Jean-Charles Cazes. Today, Jean-Michel Cazes oversees this historic vineyard. The family has successfully developed this
prestigious name by combining viticultural excellence with a modern and authentic wine tourism offering. Â The vineyard The exceptional terroir of this wine extends over 105 hectares in the heart of the Pauillac appellation. The vines thrive on deep Garonne gravel mounds, a particularly well-draining soil that stores daytime heat and releases it at night. This privileged location, overlooking the Gironde estuary, provides an ideal microclimate that promotes optimal grape ripening.Â
âDeep and rich in colour. Structured, toasted spice, dark chocolate, espresso, graphite, mint leaf. Great stuff, easy to recommend, one to look out for. 3.60 pH. 20% new oak. Harvest September 9 to 21. A far clearer link with the main Lynch Bages estate than many 2nd wines in the vintage, and one of the âsiblingâ wines of the vintage. Nicolas Labenne technical director.â
