Last night we held our very first Summer Wine Festival, and honestly, it exceeded every expectation we had. Over 90 wines were tasted, winemakers pouring, conversations flowing as freely as the AlbariĂąo, it was the kind of evening that reminds you why wine is so much more than just what's in the bottle.
If you were there, you already know. If you weren't, we hope you'll join us next year!
To celebrate the night, we're launching our biggest sale of the summer. Every wine poured at the festival is now on sale â 20% off cases and 15% off single bottles â but only until midnight Sunday 21st June, so don't hang about.
Here's a taste of what's waiting for you:
Remy from Terres Fidèles made the trip to pour the wines in person â and the Cami Del Drac Carignan Blanc was one of the talking points of the night. A white made from Carignan, grown in the sun-baked soils of Roussillon â not something you come across every day, and once you do, you don't forget it. His CĂ´tes du Roussillon red was equally impressive â bold and structured with real southern character.
Pablo Serrantes of Bouza Do Rei poured two expressions of AlbariĂąo from RĂas Baixas, including the Gran SelecciĂłn, which drew a crowd all evening. There's a reason Galician whites have the reputation they do.
Vittorio was on hand representing both Ruffino and Robert Mondavi â two of the great names of the wine world, and well represented last night. The Ruffino Riserva Ducale Chianti Classico was an undeniable highlight, as was the Robert Mondavi Pinot Noir â a Napa Valley wine that absolutely delivers on its reputation.
The Chilled Reds table was one of the busiest of the night â people discovering that a lighter, fresher red served slightly cool is exactly what summer calls for. La Pinada Bobal was a revelation for many, and the Iona Mr P Pinot Noir from South Africa had people going back for seconds.
Over at the Bubbles station, the Jean-Pol Hautbois Brut Grower Champagne held its own against everything around it â small producer, big personality. As did the Bodegas AvinyĂł Brut Reserva Cava.
The BBQ Reds table was built for this time of year â Rocca Antica Primitivo, Bodegas Navajas Crianza and Reserva, wines with the kind of warmth and depth that were made for long evenings outdoors.
And on the Summer Whites table, the Attis LĂas Finas AlbariĂąo and the Poderj Cococciola were two of the most talked-about pours of the evening â fresh, vibrant and full of character.
Every single one of them (and more!) is now in the sale.
20% off cases. 15% off single bottles. Until midnight Sunday 21st June.
Whether you were with us last night or you're discovering these wines for the first time, now is the time to stock up.

Thank you to everyone who came along and made the first ever WineOnline.ie Summer Wine Festival such a brilliant night. We're already looking forward to the next one.

Wildeberg Terroirs Chenin Blanc - 6 Bottle Case
|
|
Country: South Africa Region: Franschhoek Region
Varietal:Â 100% Chenin Blanc Vintage: 2021
Producer: Wildeberg Wines Colour : White
Wine Maker: JD Rossouw
Description:
Wildeberg (âwild mountainâ) is literally a place âon the edgeâ, of Franschhoek and the mountains themselves. Formally an equestrian farm, the land has never before been planted under vine but this wild and magical mountain has an undefinable energy .
The fact that only 10% of the property itself can be planted underlines the wild character of this place.Â
Wildeberg is our small farm in Franschhoek. Wildeberg Terroirs is an expression of the most exciting vineyard blocks we work with in the wider Coastal Region. This is a release of a Sauvignon Blanc from the steep slopes of the Simonsberg.
A single site Chenin Blanc from old bush vines grown on the Smuts Block which is old, dry-grown bush vines rooted in the rocky, granite seam outcrops that surface rarely in the otherwise deep, sandy loams between Table Mountain and Paarl. Hand-harvested bush vine fruit naturally fermented back at the farm at Wildeberg. As little work as possible is required in order to capture the site-specific energy of this fruit.
