Memorial Day Weekend has officially rolled into town and judging by the forecast, the lake is about to become the main character. Sunshine, warm temps, grills firing up across every backyard in Vermont and the peeling off of neoprene in parking lots means summer has officially clocked in for duty.
The Burlington waterfront is waking up in full force right now. Boards are hitting the water daily, docks are going back in, coolers are getting packed with questionable beverage choices, and every group text suddenly revolves around one thing: “What’s the wind doing?” Honestly, there are few things better than this first real stretch of summer energy around the lake. It feels like the entire local water community collectively shook off winter and remembered how good life gets when your biggest responsibility is deciding between one more lap or one more burger.
And speaking of summer officially arriving, the Burlington Surf Club is OPEN and ready for all to enjoy. Whether you’re chasing wind, learning something new, grilling with friends or simply pretending you know how to foil while aggressively swimming beside your board, the Surf Club is the place to be this weekend. Come soak in the vibes, meet fellow water lovers and celebrate the fact that lake season is finally back where it belongs. So dust off the beach chairs, queue up the summer playlist and clear some room in the garage because things are about to get very, very summer around here.
Swing down to Pine Street, say hey to the crew, check out the fresh arrivals and get geared up for what looks like an absolutely beautiful Memorial Day weekend on the lake. We’ll see you all in or on the water.

A Great White Shark Swallowed a Videographer's Camera and He Recovred the Footage This videographer learns the hard way that great white sharks apparently think GoPros are a tasty snack. During an underwater shoot, a massive shark chomps down on his camera and swims off, accidentally becoming the ocean’s newest content creator. Miraculously, the camera survives the shark’s bite and the recovered footage gives viewers a terrifyingly close look inside the predator’s mouth. Basically, it’s like Jaws directed by the shark itself.
