Friday is Cinco de Mayo, a holiday that celebrates the battle of Puebla that took place on May 5, 1982. In this battle, the outnumbered Mexican army defeated the French. This is not Mexican Independence day, but a day that commemorates a single victory in the Franco-Mexican War. (Mexico's Independence is September 16, 1810).
In Mexico, this holiday is not widely celebrated outside of Puebla. However, in the United States, it is largely observed by Mexican-Americans as a way to honor Mexican culture and heritage. Food is a great way to connect to cultural heritage, and we have some exciting products to help build your perfect Cinco de Mayo meal. Order by tomorrow, Tuesday, May 2 at midnight to receive your fish by Friday.

NEW Mexican Blue Shrimp!
Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a brand new shrimp!
This shrimp has landed, and just in time for Cinco de Mayo. Native to the Pacific coast, wild Mexican Blue Shrimp are globally recognized for their outstanding flavor.
These plump, blue-tinted shrimp are crisp and juicy. Their sweet flavor is complemented by notes of umami and natural salinity. They are sustainably harvested from small sail-powered boats in Mexico using highly selective nets for one of the most sustainable fisheries in the industry. They are also fair-trade certified.
Our new Mexican blue shrimp come 21-25 per pound and are peeled and deveined with the tail left on. Our Chili Lime spice blend complement these shrimp nicely, and will help get you started in some Mexican-inspired dishes for Cinco de Mayo. Think shrimp fajitas, Mexican shrimp cocktail, grilled skewers with rice, and so much more. Remove the tail and chop the shrimp up with avocado, tomato, red onion, jalapeno, corn, and lime juice for an irresistible shrimp salad.

Squid
Squid doesn't always have to be fried. It is great on the grill. Try it with our chili lime spice, and you'll love the caramelization of the sugars in the spice blend.
Want to try something new? After grilling the squid, fill the bodies with pico de gallo, a salsa of chopped tomatoes, onion, and serrano peppers. It's a fun way to add a fresh element to a grilled dish.

Kanpachi may be most known in Japanese cuisine, but since Baja Kanpachi is producing this sustainably-raised fish in northern Mexico (Baja California), we wanted to give it a shoutout.
With a firm, rich, buttery flesh, kanpachi is often eaten raw, so it could be a great fish for your favorite aguachile recipe.

Fish tacos are the epitome of easy living, and they’re a no-stress meal to make at home for your Cinco de Mayo celebrations. The beauty of this recipe is that you can use any fish you want. Try it with a skin-on fish like black sea bass or a flaky whitefish like haddock.
If you have a mango and want to make the salsa, you won’t be sorry. You can use store-bought salsa or none at all, but each layer of this recipe comes together in a unique combination of textures and flavors, which is key to a good taco.
