Join us in celebrating the inaugural release of our 2024 Kittyhawk Pinot Noir, a single-vineyard designate from Kittyhawk Vineyard in the Salem Hills.

This Pinot Noir honors our relationship with Kittyhawk Vineyard owners Susanna Owens and John Totten (see below for details) and our partnership with Cascades Raptor Center to release rehabilitated birds of prey into our estate vineyards. These barn owls, kestrels and hawks provide natural protection and support a balanced vineyard ecosystem.

Available in reusable Revino bottles, this new release celebrates the character of the Salem Hills and our shared commitment to sustainable growing practices that preserve the land for future vintages.

Aromatics of black truffle, black cherry and rose petals. The palate reveals vibrant flavors of cherries, ripe pomegranates and raspberry along with dried sage and cinnamon. Bright acidity and smooth, supple tannins lead to a lingering finish.

Kittyhawk Vineyard

Susanna Owens and John Totten planted Kittyhawk Vineyard in 2008. A few years later, during their first harvest, Susanna sent a letter to John's longtime friend and Willamette Valley Vineyards Founder Jim Bernau to ask if he'd buy some of their grapes. Jim said yes!

That first harvest started a decades-long relationship between Willamette Valley Vineyards and Kittyhawk Vineyard. Kittyhawk's high-quality fruit has been blended into select offerings over the years, but in 2024, Director of Winemaking & Vineyards Terry Culton set aside the fruit to create a new single-vineyard designate wine.

Sustainability Efforts
John and Susanna share Willamette Valley Vineyards' commitment to stewardship of the land. Kittyhawk Vineyard is LIVE & Salmon-Saf e certified and features an abundance of wildflowers and trees that attract native pollinators. The team does not use insecticides.

One of the most striking features of Kittyhawk is its oak savannah that attracts wildlife. When John and Susanna first acquired the property, the oak trees were packed too densely to produce acorns. Thanks to grant funding, Susanna and John transformed more than 10 acres of oak woodlands by thinning the forest to open the canopy, creating a healthy environment for acorn production.
