Figeac, Calon Ségur & the Rare Pavillon Wines of Château Margaux
|
Hello ,
Today's release features a collection of some of the most highly acclaimed wines of the 2025 vintage. While Château Margaux itself sold out immediately following one of the smallest productions in the estate's history (the lowest crop since 1856), there is still an opportunity to secure the château's exceptional Pavillon wines. With fewer than 600 cases of Pavillon Blanc produced worldwide and a remarkably selective Pavillon Rouge that delivers quality approaching the Grand Vin, both represent some of the most exciting and limited releases of the campaign. Alongside them are Château Figeac, one of the highest-scoring wines of the vintage, and Château Calon Ségur, a standout success on the Left Bank. Together, these wines have earned some of the strongest critical praise and highest scores of Bordeaux 2025.
For collectors planning their cellars, En Primeur also remains the best opportunity to secure large formats, which are produced in very limited quantities and often become difficult to source once the wines are released.

Château Figeac 2025
Landmark vintage crowned by critics
The 2025 vintage confirms Château Figeac’s position among Bordeaux’s elite. In a year marked by extreme heat and drought, Figeac’s exceptional terroir of deep gravel over blue clay proved decisive, preserving freshness, balance and aromatic precision throughout the growing season. The result is a blend of 38% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Cabernet Franc that delivers a wine of precision and elegance, offering layers of fresh red and black fruits, floral notes, graphite and subtle spice. The palate is refined yet concentrated, built around silky tannins, vibrant acidity and a distinctive saline finish that reflects the uniqueness of the terroir.
Critics have placed Figeac among the absolute stars of Saint-Emilion, earning a remarkable collection of ratings ranging from 97 to 100 points. Produced from low yields of just 25 hl/ha, Figeac 2025 is wine with big scores but small quantities.

What the Critics Are Saying:
100 Points, Peter Moser, www.falstaff.com:
“Deep dark ruby garnet, opaque core, violet reflections, delicate edge brightening. Delicate herbal spice, fresh red heart cherries, delicate cassis, a hint of mandarin zest, mineral touch. Complex, tightly meshed, black cherries, good freshness on the palate too, silky-soft, ripe, supporting tannins that are very well integrated, extract-sweet finish, salty touch, has great length, very seductive style, perhaps the most precise Figeac ever.”
98-100 Points, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, www.thewinepalate.com:
“Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2025 Figeac prances out of the glass with a flamboyant perfume of candied violets, black raspberries, star anise, dark chocolate, and mossy bark, opening out to a profound core of mulberries, cassis, and juicy blueberries. The medium-bodied palate shimmers with a mesmerizing array of perfumed black and blue fruit, framed by very firm, fine-grained tannins and amazing tension, finishing very long with a firework display of mineral and floral sparks.”
98-100 Points, Jeff Leve, www.thewinecellarinsider.com:
“Flowers, forest leaves, raspberries, tobacco leaves, plums, and a hint of espresso already express their nuances in the perfume. The palate is shaped by the gorgeous purity of the fruit. From there, elegance, a relaxed vibe, and tension provide lift, allowing you to enjoy the creamy, silky palate, with its multiple layers of fruit and mineral essence, lingering for close to 60 seconds. Perhaps the most salient factors that shaped the 2025 vintage were the number of sun hours, combined with heat and drought, followed by cool nights. This combination of events has not occurred before.”

Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux
Lowest Yields in 50 years
Produced exclusively from Sauvignon Blanc, Pavillon Blanc offers a deep and refined aromatic profile of white peach, fresh hazelnut and delicate floral notes. The palate is rich and textured yet driven by remarkable energy, with a saline backbone that brings persistence and precision to the finish.
What makes Pavillon Blanc 2025 particularly noteworthy is its rarity. Yields reached only 16 hl/ha, among the lowest of the last fifty years, and just 45% of the harvest was retained for the final blend. This as the smallest production ever bottled for Pavillon Blanc: 600 cases total.
Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux
The most selective Pavillon Rouge ever released
Pavillon Rouge 2025 is the result of one of the strictest selection processes in the history of Château Margaux. In pursuit of absolute quality, only 28% of the total harvest was retained for Pavillon Rouge. The blend is led by 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. The 2025 displays impressive freshness, refined tannic power and remarkable length, offering a more structured expression than usual while retaining the finesse and purity that define the château.

What the Critics Are Saying:
Pavillon Blanc du Chateau Margaux 2025
97-99 Points, Jeb Dunnuck, www.jebdunnuck.com:
“All Sauvignon Blanc raised in 20% new barriques, the 2025 Château Margaux Pavillon Blanc checks in at 14% alcohol with a pH of 3.14. It has a riper-than-usual nose of citrus, honeyed lemon, white flowers, and chalky minerality, and on the palate, it's rich, pure, and concentrated, with remarkable depth and focus. As always, this is a brilliant, singular, absolutely riveting expression of Sauvignon Blanc.”
97-98 Points, James Suckling, www.jamessuckling.com:
“A complete sauvignon blanc with sliced pear, apple and lemon aromas and flavors with a full body and a polished texture that is caressing and beautiful. It is crunchy and a bit richer than many Pavillon Blancs."
Pavillon Rouge du Chateau Margaux 2025
96 Points, Georgina Hindle, www.decanter.com:
“Fresh prune, some balsamic notes, fresh rose petals. Fragrant and dark notes, a touch of spice, some soft minerality. Juicy and succulent – there’s acidity for sure but what stands out is the texture, so soft and creamy on the palate with bright but cool blueberry acidity, some liquorice spice, violet touches and a lot of graphite and pencil lead salinity on the finish. Clearly structured but so generous in terms of fruit purity. Quite a serious Pavillon. Started harvesting young vines on the 8 September, Merlots on 11th and Cabernets on 19th, finishing on the 29th. A yield of 22hl/ha. 3.68pH. 78IPT. 28% second wine production, usually 30%. 12% press wine. 4% Cabernet Franc completes the blend.”
95-97 Points, Jeb Dunnuck, www.jebdunnuck.com:
“Cassis, blueberries, smoky tobacco, and the classic Margaux spice and complexity all define the 2025 Pavillon Rouge Du Château Margaux, which has more than a passing resemblance to the Grand Vin. Based on 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot, and 4% Cabernet Franc that's being raised in 60% new barrels, it's rich and medium to full-bodied on the palate, with a deep, layered mouthfeel, remarkable ripeness and purity, and a great finish. Checking in at 13.9% alcohol with a pH of 3.68, it's incredibly textured and is really a great wine in its own right.”

Château Calon Ségur
A historic blend
The 2025 vintage at Calon Ségur is a striking expression of the estate's gravelly terroir and Cabernet Sauvignon-driven identity. Despite a warm, dry growing season, the wine combines remarkable concentration with freshness, precision and classic Saint-Estèphe structure. Produced from an historic blend led by 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, harvested between 4 and 20 September, the Grand Vin displays exceptional purity of fruit, layered aromatics, mineral tension and refined tannins. The estate's earliest harvest on record delivered perfectly ripe fruit while preserving balance and energy, resulting in a wine of both immediate allure and long-term ageing potential.
Aged for 20 months in 100% new French oak, Calon Ségur 2025 stands among the most highly acclaimed wines of the vintage, earning 98 points from Jane Anson, 97 points from Falstaff, and a remarkable series of 95-98+ point scores from the leading international critics.
Deep, precise and profoundly elegant, this is a Calon Ségur that captures the estate's signature combination of power, finesse and longevity. A compelling candidate for one of the standout wines of the Left Bank in 2025.

What the Critics Are Saying:
98 Points, Jane Anson, insidebordeaux.com:
"The most firmly constructed wine of the Calon stable of course, but it still delivers the combination of finesse and concentration that is typical of the best wines in 2025. Much more graphite and slate on the texture of this main wine, this is one of the wines that really showcases the highest potential of the vintage, and it is an exceptional Calon. So layered, iris bud, cassis, crushed violet flowers, espresso and cocoa bean. A slow unroll. 100% new oak. 3.6 pH. Yield 35 hl/ha, Harvest September 4 to 20.”
95-97 Points, William Kelley, www.robertparker.com:
“A blend of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, the 2025 Calon-Ségur offers up a deep and incipiently complex bouquet of dark berries, rose petals and violets, framed by a deft touch of new oak. Full-bodied, deep and layered, with terrific energy, abundant but ultra refined tannins and a long, penetrating finish, it checks in at a very classically proportioned 13.6% alcohol and pH of 3.6.”
95-97 Points, Antonio Galloni, www.vinous.com:
“The 2025 Calon Ségur is a total head-turner. Aromatic and structured, the 2025 hits all the right notes. Readers will have to be patient, as the 2025 is packed with intense fruit and equally potent tannins that will need a decade to soften. This is a big, big wine. Here, too, the aromatics are so present, with lingering notes of dried herb, crushed rose petal and mint.”

Our Expert's Take on the 2025 Vintage: |
The story of 2025 begins with one defining factor: low yields. A dry, sun-filled season produced small, intensely concentrated berries, while cool nights preserved freshness and balance—resulting in wines that are both powerful and precise.
Across Bordeaux, the results are striking. Cabernet-driven Left Bank wines show depth and structure with remarkable lift, while Right Bank blends lean into Merlot and Cabernet Franc for plush textures and aromatic clarity. Whites, picked early, stand out for their energy and tension.
With limited volumes and strong early demand, 2025 is shaping up as a modern benchmark—combining the richness of warmer vintages with the freshness and precision collectors prize. Availability will be tight, making early access essential.
