Own a Piece of New York Wine History
The Legendary Cellar of Barbetta is Open
|
Our latest Fine & Rare Wines auction features something truly extraordinary: the complete cellar of Barbetta, New York's legendary Italian restaurant and one of America's most important wine destinations for more than 120 years.
Following the restaurant's closure earlier this year, collectors have a rare opportunity to acquire wines from the estate of longtime owner Laura Maioglio—a collection built over decades with vision, passion, and impeccable provenance.
Every bottle was purchased upon release and carefully stored in Barbetta's temperature-controlled cellar, preserving a remarkable chapter of wine and New York history.
There truly was no place like Barbetta—and there may never be another cellar quite like it.
|
"Barbetta was not just a restaurant—it was an institution that helped shape America's appreciation of Italian wine."
- Charles Antin, Global Head of Auction

The action begins on June 25 with Chartreuse & Friends II, featuring more than 100 lots of Chartreuse alongside an exceptional selection of rare and collectible spirits. All spirits in this sale are lying in and will be fulfilled from New York.
On June 26, we kick off Fine & Rare Wines with a landmark offering: There Was No Place Like Barbetta (Lots 1080–1311), with all property lying in Delaware. Presented from the estate of longtime owner Laura Maioglio, this historic single-owner collection features the complete cellar of New York's legendary Barbetta restaurant—a once-in-a-generation opportunity to acquire wines from one of America's most important Italian wine programs.
The auction continues with outstanding collections spanning Bordeaux, Champagne, Burgundy, and California. Among the highlights is Winery-Direct from Schrader Cellars & The Personal Collection of Fred Schrader (Lots 1733–1972). Fred Schrader has once again partnered with Zachys to bring a remarkable selection of his personal cellar to market, including rare large formats, library vintages, and unique bottles never-before-seen at auction.
With exceptional provenance, iconic producers, and remarkable depth across every category, this is a sale packed with opportunities for collectors at every level. Explore the catalog, build your watchlist, and get ready to bid.
